
| Caracas Symphony Youth Orchestra to perform in Beijing and Seoul |

The Caracas Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO) will convey El Sistema’s message in China and Korea. From October 21 to October 26, the 170 members of the CSYO will be in Beijing and Seoul performing in concerts and outreach presentations. On October 21 the CSYO will perform in Beijing at the National Center for the Performing Arts. Under the baton of Dietrich Paredes they will play Camille Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, op. 78 “Organ Symphony”, and Dimitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 in E Minor, op. 93. The following days they are scheduled to give outreach concerts in several communities of the city. On October 25 the orchestra will make his first appearance in Seoul, at the Seoul Arts Center. Led by Dietrich Paredes, the CSYO will share the stage with the Korean Youth Orchestra. The concert will open with Franz von Suppé’s Light Cavalry Overture performed by the Korean Youth Orchestra. Then, both orchestras will join forces for Ludwig van Beethoven’s first movement of the Symphony No.5 in C Minor, op. 67. It will be followed by a CSYO’s rendition of Camille Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, op. 78 “Organ Symphony”, and Dimitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 in E Minor, which will close the concert.
Their second appearance in Seoul will be held on October 26 at the EWHA Womans University. The program for this concert includes Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, op. 36; Alberto Ginastera, Dances from the Ballet Estancia, op. 8; and Arturo Márquez, Danzón No. 2. Andrés Rivas will lead the orchestra. The China-Korea Tour is the CSYO’s second international tour of the year. In the month of June, the orchestra embarked on a successful Tour of Norway, playing at the Bergen International Festival and the Academy of Music in Oslo. Further information about the concerts: |
