The Montalbán Children’s Academic Center is one of the most original and of greatest impact educational platform created by the Simón Bolívar Music Foundation. For over a decade, this center - located in the Montalbán neighborhood of Caracas - has been developing music education programs and systems for children. It started with 120 children and now it serves over 1,000 students. Its 70 professors teach specialized courses to children from when they are babies.

The Montalbán Children’s Academic Center teaches music to children from 2 to 16 years old. Then, these young musicians receive a higher level of training at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory of Music or the University Institute for Musical Education (IUDEM: Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales).

The Montalbán Children’s Academic center’s model has been successfully implemented in the orchestral and choral Núcleos of El Sistema, through the creation of the children’s orchestras. The pre-children orchestras have been developed gradually with the support of the Montalbán Children’s Academic Center, since music professors specialized in small children education are required.

Currently, there are pre-children's orchestras in the Núcleos of the following states: Aragua, Carabobo, Lara, Nueva Esparta, Trujillo, Yaracuy, and Zulia.

The Montalbán Children’s Academic Center is home of the Children's Symphony Orchestra of Caracas and the National Children's Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.
