A few days ago, Dudamel was in Italy conducting the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, and tomorrow, December 2, he will be performing with the Caracas Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Teresa Carreño Youth Orchestra of Venezuela at the official opening of the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, which will be held at the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas. Eight days later, on December 10 and 11, the Venezuelan maestro will appear with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Musikverein Theater in Vienna. The concert program will include Richard Strauss’ Symphonic poem Don Juan, Herbert Willi’s Clarinet Concerto (with Matthias Schorn as soloist) and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 "Scottish". Since September 10, 2007 (when the Venezuelan maestro made his debut with the Vienna Philharmonic at the Lucerne Festival) to date, Dudamel has kept in close contact with this celebrated orchestra that has performed under the baton of conductors of great stature such as Gustav Mahler Zubin Mehta, Claudio Abbado, Simon Rattle, Riccardo Muti, Giussepe Sinopoli, Valeri Gergiev, Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez and Daniel Barenboim. |
