The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Caracas (YSOC) is one of the most important orchestral-academic programs carried out by the State Foundation for the National System of Youth and Childrenâs Orchestras of Venezuela (FESNOJIV) in collaboration with the SimĂłn BolĂvar Conservatory of Music. The 120 member orchestra is made up of students of the SimĂłn BolĂvar Conservatory of Music and the University Institute of Musical Studies of Caracas. The YSOC develops a tireless educational work regarding collective and individual practice of music; hence it provides the orchestraâs members with chamber music training through the creation of trios, quartets, quintets, octets, etc. The YSOCâs high-level repertoire is the result of intensive activities and a demanding academic program. Along with chamber music and the traditional symphonic repertoire, the orchestra performs Latin-American pieces, particularly those by Venezuelan composers. The YSOC has toured Venezuela, Colombia, and Trinidad and Tobago. It appears regularly at important festivals in Venezuela, and has shared stages with renowned guest conductors and soloists, such as: Eduardo Marturet, Florian Ebersberg, Georg Mark, Eddy Marcano, RubĂ©n Capriles, RubĂ©n Cova, Edgar Pronio, Ulyses Ascanio, Manuel LĂłpez, Leafar Riobueno, Pablo Castellanos, Patrick Lang, Missa Johnouchi, Hideyo Takakuwa, Isabel Palacios, Sara Caterine, Gabriela Montero, Rafael Payare, Dietrich Paredes, and Gustavo Dudamel.
