Latin American Double Bass Academy Print E-mail

The Latin American Double Bass Academy was founded in 2002, by the initiative of maestro José Antonio Abreu, with the aim of providing a comprehensive music education to the most talented double bass players from Latin America and Venezuela, who wants to deepen the study of the double bass. Edicson Ruiz is one of the Latin American Double Bass Academy’s most notorious alumnus. He studied for seven years at the academy with professor Félix Petit, and at age 17, he became the youngest member of the Berlin Philharmonic.

The professors of the Double Bass Academy are dedicated to providing the highest level of music education. These professionals are artists with wide and valuable performing and teaching experience, whose methods - focused on the present and future of the Latin American music and inspired by El Sistema's three decades of achievements - combine experience, tradition, history and evolution in the art of playing the double bass.
